Field Trip to Agua Linda Farm

For Abbies preschool field trip we went to Agua Linda Farm down south of Tucson.  It was a lovely fun day! Thanks to all who made it happen!
After a short intro to what a farm is for and why they are important, we all got on the hay trailer pulled by this awesome green tractor, and we went for a ride to see their farm land.
It was a little windy, but beautiful!
They dropped us all off in the middle of a field where the kids got to pick Fava beans!  The kids were in HEAVEN!

Abby was a pro!

I like to think I taught her how to pick stuff! ;)

They even got to go in the hen's house and gather eggs!

This guy was very friendly.  Hehehhe!

Isn't she beautiful?  Even more than these flowers! We had a fun day with our friends!

Preschool Update

My turn to teach preschool!!  Our theme was careers this time.  For our field trip we went to the Postal History Foundation:  http://www.postalhistoryfoundation.org/.  The kids had a great time!  They started by reading the kids an adorable book about a postal worker trying to deliver mail to a farm where the cow tried to scare the worker.  It was super silly...I wish I could remember the name of it.

Then they had a bunch of activities/crafts set up for the kids all to do with stamps.  I never would have guessed how much fun the kids could have picking and sorting through thousands of stamps. There were some really neat ones!

Then to end things they gave the kids a tour of a little postal room that was from one of the foundational postal offices here in AZ a long long time ago.  The highlight was when they got to put on one of the post officer's hats and carry their very heavy satchel!

Music Month for Preschool

For music month we made all sorts of instruments!  This is just one of them...our guitars!  (Can you tell what kind of cereal we eat at our house? Well, that Dave eats? lol)

I think this was the most fun instrument.  They were a little more fragile then I hoped (the handles anyway) but they could still be played with just the body.  I hope the kids enjoyed this topic.  I sure did!  We as mom's/teachers got to choose our own topics that we were interested in.  So one mom did athletics/exercise, another did science (w/experiments), another did nutrition/food, and I chose music.  It was a perfect mix and super fun!  Looking forward to next semester!

We Be Pirates

For our preschool week of the letter "X" we had a pirate theme! We did "X marks the spot" and pretended all day to be pirates! The kids were absolutely adorable!

Kinsay, Noah, Abby & Andy

For our math part they all had to hunt around and find hidden treasure boxes.  Then they had to count the treasure in their boxes.

I also sent them on a treasure hunt with notes to find an actual X that marked a spot.  They ended up in the garden and got to dig dig dig!
See the X?  :)

They finally found it...the Treasure was edible!  They were very happy!  Teaching preschool has been super fun for me and the kids!

Butterfly Magic

One of Abbies preschool field trips this last fall was to the Botanical Gardens.  We got to see the coolest butterfly exhibit!  (Abby, Andy, Noah, Ada & Kinsie)

It was so hot in the little greenhouse that my lens kept fogging up.  And by the end we were all dripping sweat!

It was uber cool watching them eat.

The butterflies were everywhere and they would land on you constantly.  It took Abby & Joey a little time to not freak out every time one got near them.  But they got there.  Abby wore her flower pants so the butterflies would feel comfortable around her.  :D

If you look closely, a butterfly is fluttering next to Joey's head, about to land.

Cool!

It was a fun day!  We learned a lot about Butterflies and plants that day and had a fun picnic at the park afterwards.   And just for entertainment...Here's Brian Regan's clip on "Butterfly Questions" (click on the link below).  It was our theme for the day! :)  http://comedians.jokes.com/brian-regan/videos/brian-regan---butterfly-questions

Show & Tell

Our preschool week was about Pets.   So the kids all brought their pets for show and tell.  It was a hit!
Andy brought his cat, Cassie.  Kinsey brought her fish Gulpy.  Noah brought a couple pictures of his dog, Dash.  And Abby brought her stuffed animal dog that she named "Abby" one day and the next day it was "Dog", now when I ask her it is "Eewah"???  What in the world?  Crazy girl.  Anyway, the kids LOVED talking about their pets and asked if they could pet the fish of course!  :)  Don't worry, all pets returned home unharmed!

Omer Bunnies

Abby made these awesome rabbit ears in preschool.  Our theme this month is animals and we're having a lot of fun with it!

This is what happened when Joey tried them on!

It was super cute!

I guess he'll just have to grow into his ears!  :)
